Jeonju University Museum

 

Jeonju University Museum, since its opening in 1985, has been pursuing extensive researches and putting in utmost efforts in succeeding the traditions and cultures of Jeollabuk-do. In particular, Jeonju University is a prestigious private Christian academic institution in the region of Honam founded on the basis of Christian ideology and has been ceaselessly collecting and researching academic and spiritual materials at the time when the Christianity spread in the region of Honam. These are not limited to the Christian history of the region of Honam but are the materials with high value, and considered as academic materials of modern history of Korea. In particular, the photographic materials exhibited at the Museum are the empirical materials that demonstrate the process of modernization of Korea with extremely high historical value.

 

In addition, the Museum is putting in extensive efforts in enhancing the quality of local cultures and education through surveying of cultural assets and academic inquiries as well as operation of educational programs. In particular, the Traditional Dress Code Pavilion, which is established in 2010, is playing a highly important role in proliferating the awareness and better understanding of the traditional cultures of Korea. As such, the Jeonju University Museum is establishing itself as the leading venue of culture through which modern and contemporary traditions and cultures are harmonized.
