Chosun University Museum

Chosun University Museum was established with the goal of collecting, researching and exhibiting practical educational materials, and making contributions towards the advancement of education, academics and local growth.

Until now, it has been actively pursuing a wide range of activities including excavation and organization of local history and school history data as well as exhibition under a diverse range of themes and social education, etc. as a highly reputed private university museum in the Honam region.

In particular, the Museum disclosed the long history of the Honam region by examining and investigating the key Paleolithic Age remains including Suncheon Juknaeri Remain (Commemorative Monument No. 172 of Jeollanam-do), Suncheon Wolpyeong Remain (National Historic Site No. 458) and Jangheung Sinbuk Remain (Commemorative Monument No. 238 of Jeollanam-do), and is continuing to pursue research activities for the investigation of the movement of population in Northeast Asia in ancient times and exchange of Paleolithic Age cultures. Cultural heritages are not just traces of the past but, rather, have highly precious value in forecasting and preparing for the future.

Our Museum shall put our utmost efforts to share these valuable assets that contain the aroma of history and culture with the constituent members of the University and local residents unsparingly. We look forward to your frequent visit to our Museum as the venue for experiencing and learning through real materials, and cultural space that you can utilize as a place of refuge from the hectic daily lives. Thank you very much.
