Pusan National University Museum

 

In March 1956, the current Annex Bldg. of the Museum was completed and was opened as the initial museum in May, 1964. Since then, the former music hall was remodeled in March 1994 and Exhibitions Halls 1 and 2 were opened as the current main exhibition hall of the Museum.

 

The Museum is divided into the comprehensive exhibition hall on the 1st floor and the planned exhibition hall on the 2nd floor. The exhibition hall on the 1st floor displays the history of Korea since the Paleolithic Age in which people began to reside in the Korean Peninsula to the Joseon Dynasty through the relics of the corresponding eras in diachronic format.

 

On the 2nd floor, systematic exhibition is displayed by setting themes for each part of the exhibition in order to highlight the Gaya cultures in overall with focus on the remains and relics of the Gaya era that the Museum independently surveyed and investigated. In addition, various events such as invitational lectures, exploratory visits to historical remains and viewing videos are held along with the lending of literatures and videos.

There currently are a total of 1,034 relics made up of 656 relics on the 1st floor (comprehensive exhibition hall) and 378 relics on the 2nd floor (planned exhibition hall ? Gaya culture exhibition hall) are on display.

 

Relics for each of the eras are displayed here with the exhibition of the largest number of relics collected in Bokcheon-dong, Dongrae among all the relics of the Pusan National University Museum.
